The city centre contains many Roman ruins, second only to Rome. 

In Piazza Bra stands the huge arena built in the first century, used today for operas and other events.

Romeo and Juliet was set in Verona and the “balcony of Juliet” can be visited.

San Zeno Maggiore is a fabulous Romanesque church, famous for the bronze panelling on the west doors.
