Ravenna is famous for its mosaics dating back to 500AD. Some of the best examples are in the 6th century church, Sant’ Apollinare Nuovo.

Ravenna is a pleasant town of quaint shops, old streets and a very pleasant central square, Piazza del Popolo.

The Divine comedy and Towering inferno poet, Dante, has his tomb here, in the street named in his honour.
