A lagoon city with a perfectly preserved historic centre. Comacchio is a delightful town which has a long history. Sandwiched on the Adriatic coast between Venice and Ravenna, the superpowers of the middle ages, the town grew prosperous from the production of salt. Comacchio is crossed by many canals which cover the fact that the town is actually made up of 13 islands. The famous landmark of the 'Tre Ponti' is not to be missed, as well as savouring the local speciality - eels. |
